Email is optional. Without it, Day Planner still works: the forgot-password page asks people to contact the admin, and invitation links are shown to the admin to send themselves.
What Day Planner emails
Section titled “What Day Planner emails”- Password reset: a link to choose a new password.
- Invitations: a link to create an account, when an admin invites someone.
Configure Resend (recommended)
Section titled “Configure Resend (recommended)”Resend needs no mail server. Verify your domain there (SPF + DKIM records), create an API key, and set:
RESEND_API_KEY=re_…SMTP_FROM=Day Planner <noreply@example.com>SMTP_FROM must be an address on the verified domain — Resend rejects anything
else, so there is deliberately no default. When both are set, the Resend API
takes precedence over SMTP_URL. Restart the app; the forgot-password page
now shows its form.
Configure SMTP
Section titled “Configure SMTP”Set one URL containing the server, port and login:
SMTP_URL=smtps://user:password@smtp.example.com:465SMTP_FROM=Day Planner <tasks@example.com>Use smtps:// for port 465 (TLS from the start) or smtp:// for port 587 (upgraded with STARTTLS). If the password contains special characters such as @ or /, URL-encode them. (Resend also offers an SMTP relay,
smtps://resend:<api-key>@smtp.resend.com:465, which works here unchanged.)
Restart the app. The forgot-password page now shows its form.
Deliverability
Section titled “Deliverability”Mail from a new domain often lands in spam. Send from a domain with SPF, DKIM and DMARC records, or use a transactional email provider’s SMTP relay.
